Biography

Education

Andrea Amat Martínez was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1989. She studied in the Valencia’s Professional Conservatoire. She was award-winner with the Final prize of middle Grade unanimously. She has studied the undergraduate in the Valencia’s Upper Conservatoire and also, she was award-winner with the Final Degree’s prize in 2010.

During years 2011, 2012 and 2013, she performed a Master in orchestral interpretation at Royal College of Music, obtaining a High Distinction (performance and orchestral specialism) and working with directors like Lorin Maazel, Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Roger Norrington, Vladimir Jurowsky, Martin Andre, Robin O’neil and Mikel Roswell. Throughout her studies she had the support of a Leverhulme Orchestral Mentorship: Simon Channing, Sue Thomas, Rachel Brown, Gareth Davies and Jaime Martín.

Training and lectures

She has studied and performed masterclasses with: Antonio Arias, I. Artaud, Antonio Núez, Fernando Gómez, Vicens Prats, Salvador Martínez, Raffaele Trevisani, Emmanuel Pahud, Magdalena Martínez, Philippa Davies, Julien Beaudiment,  Sophie Cherrier, Paul Edmund Davies, Gareth Davis and James Galway.

Awards
  • Selected as “RCM Rising Star 2013” by Royal College of Music to perform recitals in the Elgar Room of Royal Albert Hall and Cadogan Hall (2013)
  • Selected by Royal College of Music to participate in Castleton Festival (USA, June-July 2013) under Lorin Maazel direction
  • RCM Concerto Competition, whose prize was a concert as solist with the RCM Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Roger Norrington -J. Ibert-Concerto for Flute and Orchestra- (2013)
  • Ciutat de Xàtiva National Contest, category A (2012)
  • Juventudes Musicales’s Permanent Contest. With this contest, she won four musical tours around Spain, as solist (2011)
  • Ruperto Chapi’s National Contest (2011)
  • Ciutat de Xàtiva National Contest, category B (2011)
  • Ciutat de Xàtiva’s National Contest, category C (2005)
